When I was a young girl, my mom took me to dance class every Tuesday night – for years. I absolutely loved it. I loved the shoes, looking out the windows to the street below while doing our barre warm-ups, the performances, the costumes… everything.
My mom would wait in a waiting room that was so cold in the winter that the parents huddled in coats, hats, and mittens trying to stay warm. After an hour and a half of dance class, I would come out to see my mom wrapped in at least three layers, and knitting. I felt bad that she had to sit so long in the cold, but she would always tell me how much she loved taking me. I figured she probably didn’t mind, but I couldn’t understand how she could enjoy all that much.
Now that I have a daughter of my own that we prayed and prayed for long before her arrival, I know what it is to love taking her to dance class. To see how far she has come, to watch her do something she excels at and brings her joy! Yes, I love taking my daughter to dance class!
